MDL Disneyland Paris Major is the fourth Dota Pro Circuit Major of the season and has enormous importance for the professional Dota 2 scene. The event provides the teams with an excellent chance to secure a place in the top 12 and hence, a direct invite to The International 2019. That’s really good for the participants, and a really good MDL Disneyland Paris Major betting opportunity.

You, on the other hand, may have a different interest in following the tournament, which is why we’ll provide you with a comprehensive MDL Disneyland Paris Major betting preview. That way, you’ll gain a better understanding of what Dota 2 betting opportunities are available for this event.

MDL Disneyland Paris Major General Information

MDL Disneyland Paris Major is scheduled to take place between May 4th – 12th in Paris, France. The event features 16 teams from the six major regions included in the Dota Pro Circuit and offers them a total of 15.000 qualification points as well as one million dollars in prizes.

MDL Disneyland Paris Major Participants

These are the 16 teams that will compete at the tournament:

  • South America: Chaos Esports Club, paiN Gaming
  • North America: compLexity Gaming, TEAM TEAM, Evil Geniuses
  • Europe: Team Liquid, OG, Ninjas in Pyjamas, Team Secret
  • China: Keen Gaming, Vici Gaming, PSG.LGD
  • CIS: Virtus.pro, Team Empire
  • SEA: Fnatic, Mineski

If you intend to bet on Dota 2 matches during the MDL Major, you should keep several teams in mind and consistently bet either on or against them when the conditions are favorable.

The Underdogs

First of all, here are the low hanging fruit or the competitors that have the odds stacked against them.

  • TEAM TEAM (43 To Win Outright)*
  • compLexity Gaming (43 To Win Outright)*
  • Team Empire (28 To Win Outright)*
  • paiN Gaming (43 To Win Outright)*

These four teams should be very easy victims for everyone else and as a result, they represent excellent Dota 2 betting opportunities whenever they play. Unless they play against each other, their chances of winning are slim.

MDL Disneyland Paris Major Participants Betting Favorites

And now, here are the teams that you should consistently bet on, unless they’re facing a formidable opponent in a match in which anything could happen.

  • Team Secret (4 To Win Outright)*
  • PSG.LGD (5.2 To Win Outright)*
  • Virtus.Pro (5.3 To Win Outright)*
  • Team Liquid (7 To Win Outright)*

These four teams are in excellent shape and will probably dominate the competition at MDL Disneyland Paris Major. Little can stand in their way, and your level of risk when betting on them is fairly low.

The Dark Horses

And lastly, you’ll want to keep an eye on potential dark horses and predict some of the tournament’s big upsets. These are the main candidates for that kind of scenario.

  • OG (16 To Win Outright)*
  • Keen Gaming (18 To Win Outright)*
  • Ninjas in Pyjamas

MDL Disneyland Paris Major Groups

These are the four groups that have been drawn for the Group Stage of MDL Disneyland Paris Major.

Group A

1. Keen Gaming
2. TEAM TEAM
3. Team Liquid
4. Virtus.pro

In this group, your safest Dota 2 bets are on Virtus.pro and against TEAM TEAM. Everyone will probably demolish TEAM TEAM and everyone will likely lose against Virtus.pro.

Group B

1. Team Secret
2. Chaos Esports Club
3. Ninjas in Pyjamas
4. Team Empire

In Group B, Team Secret has no real opponent. The other three teams are volatile and separated by uncertain skill gaps. In theory, NiP should easily beat both Chaos Esports Club as well as Team Empire. However, until we see them play, it’s hard to tell whether or not they’ll show the same level of skill that they displayed at the most recent DPC Minor.

Group C

1. Vici Gaming
2. paiN Gaming
3. LGD
4. Mineski

In Group C, the Chinese juggernauts should have their way with Mineski and paiN Gaming. The skill difference is enormous so we don’t expect any surprises.

Group D

1. Evil Geniuses
2. Fnatic
3. compLexity Gaming
4. OG

In this group, Fnatic and Evil Geniuses are the strongest teams. However, we’ve seen EG lose some unexpected matches in recent months and OG is now playing with ana in the carry position. So we may end up with Fnatic and OG on the first two positions instead of Fnatic and EG. Keep in mind that the top two teams advance to the Upper Bracket of the Main Event, while the bottom two advance to the Lower Bracket.

MDL Disneyland Paris Major Team Analysis

The 16 competitors that will attend MDL Disneyland Paris Major can be divided into several skill brackets. Even though they’re all strong teams in their own right, when compared to each other some of them are simply light years ahead of the rest, while others are light years behind the rest of the pack.

In particular, you should keep an eye on Virtus.pro, Team Secret, Vici Gaming and Fnatic. These four teams that we already mentioned are in excellent form right now and proved very adept at playing the current meta. And keep in mind, the game haven’t had a big patch in a long time, thus making betting on Dota fairly interesting.

The first three of these teams are already qualified for The International 2019, so they will play with less pressure on their shoulders. Fnatic is also pretty much guaranteed a spot at TI 9 after their 3rd place result at the previous Major and it’s only a matter of time at this point until they too are announced as a direct invite. At the end of MDL Disneyland Paris Major, Fnatic will 100% be the 5th team to make it through even though the DPC season will still have one Minor and one Major left to be played.

At the other extreme, TEAM TEAM and compLexity Gaming are not in their best shape. Especially the first of these two competitors. TT’s new team recently kicked two of the long-standing players, Gunnar and Newsham, replacing them with Ryoya and tmt. These kinds of roster changes right before a big event tend to spell disaster, as Dota 2 is above anything a team game.

Without a clear and practiced set of tactics, strategies, and drafts, there’s no way that you can beat the world’s best lineups. Even a team of superstars would fail to do that, let alone one that has at least four regular players in it.
