Fnatic & Liquid Crowned ESL Pro League Season 11 Champions

ESL Pro League Season 11 is finally over, not just for North America but Europe as well. The online competition offered numerous esports betting opportunities for those who like to bet on CS:GO. It also provided a great show to watch in these dark times, and I must say the entertainment level was much higher than expected for an online tournament. In this article, I will take a closer look at the results that were registered in the two regions and what they say about the current state of the pro scene.

Underdogs Fnatic Secure ESL Pro League Season 11 Europe After Six Month Hiatus

In Europe, 18 teams took part in the race and the battle for supremacy was fierce. Na’Vi was expected to do well, and it almost did, having entered the competition as the number 1 team in the world.

Other participants, such as Astralis, Fnatic, mousesports, and G2 Esports were also expected to do well. Some did, others didn’t. But the biggest surprise was the winner: Fnatic won its first trophy in the last six months. I say surprise because it wasn’t obvious at all that they were going to succeed until the second stage of the tournament.

In Stage 1, Fnatic had a rather modest performance, finishing with 3 wins and 2 losses. The defeat against Na’Vi (0 – 2) made people think that there were undoubtedly other competitors that had much better chances to win the event. And the bad result against BIG (1 – 2) was also a confidence destroyer for Fnatic’s fans. And yet, in the end, they triumphed, while Na’Vi didn’t even make it to the Playoffs.

The complete results for the 3 stages of the tournament are the following:

Stage 1

Astralis, Natus Vincere and mousesports won their groups and qualified directly to Stage 2. After the decider matches, Fnatic, FaZe Clan and OG joined them.

Stage 2

During this stage, Fnatic proved to be one step ahead of everybody else in terms of strategy and the ability to execute a plan to perfection. Astralis and mousesports also looked solid, but nobody expected Na’Vi to miss the Playoffs. The complete results of this stage were as follows:

In the Playoffs Stage, mousesports surprisingly won against Astralis (2 – 1) after being crushed by them just several days before. In the Grand Final, Fnatic got a narrow victory (3 – 2) and is once again in everyone’s attention.

Liquid Take The ESL Pro League Season 11 North American Crown

In North America, only six teams took part in the tournament and the event had two stages: one group round-robin followed double-elimination Playoffs.

In the Group Stage, the battle was the closest thing I’ve seen in recent years. Three of the teams had 3 wins and 2 losses in the end, while the other three had 2 wins and 3 losses. It was complete madness and nobody knew who would win the group or qualify until the end.
